ive been running around texoma for over thirty years. and see this every year.
first you camp with a ski boat maybe jet skis or maybe stay at a friends.
then you start looking for a place to rent, trailer home or dockaminium.
then you get a nice ski boat, but its not as fast as your buddies so
you trade it for a baja 25 to 27 ft .couple more years youve got to
have a fountain or a cat of some type.few more years and you figure out
its ok just to cruise and not go 80 mph every where you go.theres a lot
of cool shit to see and do on texoma take your time and enjoy it. ive been out on john boats
to 48 ft cruisers and had fun every time.

Like sand through the hour glass isn't? We were just talking about how nice a big cruiser would be last Sunday... I think someone called it getting "older". I had to look that up though.

I down sized and then went for waterfront property. Dirt holds a resale value alittle better then fiberglass.

Same thing goes with bikes , first you get the lowrider HD, then after a couple of years drooling you get that Bigdog Chopper, but after a couple of more yrs you wind up on an Ultra Classic going to Sturgis the week before bike wk and still complain about the crowds. This is the exact case with my 68 yr old cousin. Me shit I still run HARD on everything, Who says tomorrow is a given!!!!!!

Im happy to be on the water on pretty much anything,
year my boat was down I spent whole summer out on a 17ft mako
and had just as good time.
I am grateful for whatever gets me out on the water.
Living next to the lake is nice too.

I was talking with a guy that has been doing this for 25+ years now and he was saying that about every 2 years you typically want a boat about 3' to 5' bigger than what you have and it goes from wanting something the kids can play on, to a cuddy, to a faster boat and a cabin, to a bigger cuddy and keeping the cabin. Seems to be a universal theme.
Nothing left to do now except for drink until the part of the brain that makes mental images is dead.

What blows my mind is the price for waterfront property here in La. On Lake Bisteneau we had a camp house growing up, my brothers decided to sell it realtor showed us comps all around lake so 4 out of 5 me being the one not wanting to sell it but I did not want it then anyway by my self. Anyway wa sold it 8 yrs ago after being on the market for 13 months for 100k. I now am looking for something. My old camp is for sale we went through it, shit!!! They tore all the cedar panelling out and put in dry wall and painted it Canary yellow. Took the beaded board ceiling down and did drywall ceiling and popcorn finish, thats all there asking 295k. They claim with the Haynesville shale the property is worth more. It's 1 acher and there keeping the mineral rights, but in La. if a well is not drilled in that section in 10 yrs the minerals go to the new owner. Crap I have a 100 acher farm here, but if your keeping the minerals and all you did is a little drywall wk I do not see 195k in improvements. I told my wife I was not to attached when we sold it and for 295k I still am not. Might look around Lake Greason in Ark.

Yeah, but then that changes. You start to enjoy the a/c and then you decide you want a boat with A/C. Then your boat with A/C isn't isn't fast enough, nor does it fish well even though you don't fish. Then you realize you'll never be content unless you have a lakehouse with a fishing boat, a cruiser with a/c, a ski boat, and a go-fast. Then of course you need another boat at home because you don't go to the lake every weeekend, but would like to have a boat in the garage to take to local lakes for random short boat rides when you get stressed out. Then you have kids who only want to play on the beach......... and you only hope they grow up and like boats as much as you do because you need help taking care of them all.
